Supporting the Arts by Creating Art

Silent Rivers is creating custom furniture for the Des Moines Arts Festival.

Building a "bar" for the Des Moines Arts Festival

It is early June and Silent Rivers artisans (and office staff) are in overdrive designing and building two “hospitality suites” for the nationally recognized Des Moines Arts Festival, June 27-29.  These Hospitality Suites were new to the festival last year and are intended to serve as a place where the small business  can entertain clients and staff in the shade and watch the ebb and flow of the art community. Silent Rivers is building custom furniture and creative panelized walls systems to create a space that truly celebrates the Arts! This year, we are adding a central bar that will be a feature for the two spaces.

It is an incredibly fun, but massive undertaking, and it has been amazing to witness the teamwork, design talent, construction artisanship, and commitment that has been brought to bear on completing this herculean task.  More than 75 individual pieces of furniture have been created, and one lucky Facebook friend will have the chance to win a custom table from this project.

We couldn’t do it alone.  Many thanks go out to O’Harco, Gilcreast Jewett, Intectural, Richlite, Plyboo, Schlievert Plumbing, Digital Residence, and Liberty Hardwoods for their support with this project; along with the talents of Silent Rivers staff, artisans, friends, and family. We are also grateful to Stephen King, and his team at the Des Moines Arts Festival, for encouraging this vision and providing the opportunity.

Stay tuned to this blog site or our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/SilentRivers) for updates about our progress, changes we are making to this year’s design, and the various ecologically-centered products that we will be including.
