Custom Built Furniture Complements a Gorgeous Sustainable Home Renovation

In March, we featured this custom bench, donated in support of Des Moines’ Young Women’s Resource Center fundraiser. This bench design was actually one of several custom furniture pieces created for a 1980’s Colonial-style home renovation. The homeowners have worked with Silent Rivers on many projects including a full remodel of their main floor.

Natural Materials Create an Inviting Environment

Desiring a sustainable renovation that would meet their family needs both functionally and spiritually, our clients gave us carte blanche in creating furniture pieces that are not only sustainable and functional, but artistically sculptural.

This week we feature these additional furniture pieces along with examples of the original renovation work we did in the home. The renovation and furniture pieces are dynamic and explore warmth, space, and the interplay between woods.

This custom bookcase artfully pairs Baltic birch plywood with cherry trim, dividing space through functionally sculptural design.

Custom birch media cabinets provide a continuity in design and bring warmth to the family room.

Custom birch cabinets provide additional storage, allowing the kitchen island to be a centerpiece for family and friends.

Stately, clean design results in this beautifully traditional bedroom piece made of birch and cherry.

A second custom-built bench features an asymmetric design and unique wood grain.

Gorgeous Baltic birch plywood and maple, custom-designed music stand with maple wood mechanisms and glass sheet music support.

Design is in the details: Beautiful maple handles work internal levers to raise and lower the glass sheet music support of this custom music stand.
