Why does Silent Rivers partner with Des Moines Arts Festival each year? We are passionate about creating vibrant communities and uplifting experiences with art!
Over the years, we have expanded the Silent Rivers VIP Club to include an intimate gallery space we call the Creative Cafe that holds DMAF Curated and a custom-built “gathering table” for coffee and conversation.
Every summer, we create the Silent Rivers VIP Club at the Des Moines Arts Festival to offer an exclusive place where those who support the Festival can have a stylish and sustainably-built hangout as part of their tax-deductible VIP patron package. We also create DMAF Curated, an exhibit curated by Silent Rivers founder Chaden Halfhill, who is himself an artist and arts advocate.
Commencing as a prequel exhibit in the weeks leading up to Des Moines Arts Festival, Chaden selects a body of work from artists featured in the Festival and presents an experience beyond the tents you’ll find lining the streets of downtown Des Moines’ Western Gateway Park. Until June 27, you can experience DMAF Curated in the wonderful gallery space of Olson-Larsen Galleries in Valley Junction. Then as the area around the downtown sculpture park sprouts into the nationally acclaimed Des Moines Arts Festival, DMAF Curated moves to the Silent Rivers VIP Club on site, expanding into a creative experience integrating relaxed, open conversations on visual and performing arts. Topics include growth in arts access and regional theatre, how and why art resonates with us, why it’s an important vehicle for social transformation and how it promotes our personal growth and creative community.
