This ensures a seamless design and installation plan as tile selections and the timing of its installation will perfectly align with the overall design and construction schedule. Let’s look at some of these special tiling projects.
This luxurious bathroom renovation included this highly customized steam shower and utilized Schluter linear drains and waterproofing system for the walls and floor. Then the granite walls were installed, along with the warm earth-toned pebble floor and glass tile ceiling.
We helped restore the original charm of this historic Victorian hall bathroom with these classic black-and-white hexagon tiles individually installed across the bathroom floor and shower. This image shows the detail of our custom work.
The Art Deco style bathroom remodel included a new shower using large-format tiling. Here we used porcelain marble tiles mixed with solid black. These original tiles arrived in 5’ x 10’ sheets and were custom cut to achieve this look.
This modern bathroom mixed media design integrates metal inlay to accent and delineate between two different, but complementing, styles of tile.
All glass mosaic tile integrated solid 3″x6″ beveled accent tile to work in conjunction with our client’s tile placement to create the colorful Craftsman kitchen these homeowners always dreamed of.
Our 1980s Contemporary Bathroom Remodel included an inset tile design that ran a ‘path’ through the bathroom, surrounding the whirlpool bath and continuing from the floor into the back wall of the glass-front shower.
A downtown loft remodel included a bathroom designed with a blend of industrial and natural elements. The floor tile resembles concrete and the shower tiles resemble weathered wood.
This is the new entryway to the Green & Main building in Sherman Hill, which is a sustainable mixed-use building project by Silent Rivers. Healing Passages Birth and Wellness Center occupies the main floors and requested the entryway be designed with historically accurate hexagon tiles to communicate that their clients are at “theHeart” of the birth center’s vision.
The difference between an amateur and professional tiling job
Sure, you can DIY it and spend the next 10 weekends tiling yourself. Or you can hire the family handyperson to do it. But it’s important to remember that with tiling, the devil is in the details. Consistency of how each tile is placed and installed is key. There are industry standards around proper tile installation and grouting.
And, ultimately, the tiling success depends on the proper prepping or rebuilding of the wall or floor surface. Silent Rivers starts with a thorough evaluation of existing surfaces and provides an estimate and plan to our clients for how to best achieve a beautifully finished tile project.
We also use grout that is much easier to care for than past grout choices. Today we use epoxy grouts or polyurethane grouts which are stain resistant, mold resistant and much easier to clean.
Laying the foundation
In many cases, subflooring will need to be repaired or replaced prior to tile installation. We will choose the appropriate tile substrate for your custom tile job. Selecting the right product for the tile substrate is very important. There are many different types of substrate solutions and which one we use is dependent upon your specific tiling project. We have experience in working with all of these products and can provide a custom plan for every client.
